TelOnline at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015

Barcelona, Spain, 2 -5 March, 2015
As a display of items of interest, which is the dictionary definition of an exhibition, the Mobile World Congress (MWC) is a superlative. It is huge, not only in size but in technology and interesting items. Now, getting there is no easy feat and I am not talking about the plane trip which, for us leaving from Miami International, is an eleven hour plus affair, if we consider the security lanes and customs. Oncce refreshed and jet lag still reeling inside, came the obligatory visit and selfie (dual, from left to right, Juan Carlos Castañeda, Iván Peñalosa) at Las Ramblas de Barcelona, one of the most iconic places of this vibrating city.

The first day was a shock. Just look at the crowd at the stairs and the main access corridor.
It was a wonderful crowd, though: interesting, talkative, curious. The organization of the event was nothing less that superb. First, the access routes with all the entrances clearly identified in and around a spectacular architecture.

Once inside, the place was teeming with welcoming booths, plenty of helpful and patient people willing and able to explain even the minutest details of their ware, and innovative exhibits.

Of course, wristwatches were aplenty. The themes of the exposition were as varied as the product themselves. Take a look at this small sample:

The presentations were a world by itself. We had to cherry pick our way through the list. Fortunately, the ones we attended really added value due to the quality of the content and the presentation skills of the expositor.

We could not leave without visiting the Colombia pavillion which was full of interesting products and services.

It is incredible the amount of effort and planning that goes into an event such as this one. It represents a logistic nightmare for any organizer. The MWC again positioned itself as the top event in its category. Well organized, easy to navigate, and full of hospitable and well informed people.

It was a fantastic opportunity to build relationships, reconnect with associates and friends, and truly evaluate the marketing message and the value of the product. It is a unique setting to reach new prospects and, for the exhibitors, show their commitment within the industry.

Definitely, we will be attending next year’s Mobile World Congress.  Don’t miss it.
